Graduating on time becomes a target for all students, including doctoral students at the Doctoral Program in Economics (PDIE), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS).
Length of study and graduation rate constitute a major interest for education institutions because it is related to the accreditation of the study program. The longer a student’s study period within a study program, the lower the score points given for related assessment aspects in an accreditation assessment. Conversely, the shorter the study period, which is in line with the provided target, will increase the score related to graduation assessment in the accreditation process.
Timely graduation is also the target of a lecturer’s supervisory activity as a form of academic service.
Considering these aspects, PDIE FEB UNS hosted the Workshop on Tips and Tricks for Graduating on Time for Doctoral Degree Students, Monday, August 21, 2023, in the Konimex Room of the Bachtiar Effendi Building. This agenda aims to improve PDIE FEB UNS students’ motivation to graduate on time. Hence the length of the student’s study period, especially at PDIE FEB UNS, will be aligned with the predetermined objective of the Study Program.
The workshops invited experts in postgraduate level learning who also have numerous publication experiences and preparation of scientific papers. The two speakers, are Dr. Wuryan Andayani, SE, M.Sc., Ak., from Universitas Brawijaya, and Prof. Dr. Dyah Sawitri, SE, MM., from Gajayana University.
The activity was attended by PDIE FEB UNS lecturers and students, as well as general participants with an opening remark from the Head of PDIE FEB UNS, followed by the presentation of material by the speakers and discussion sessions related to obstacles, challenges, and opportunities to get graduated on time.

The Culinary of Development Economics in 2023 is expected to have a great impact in the economic and social fields, because this event prioritizes the cooperation principle, namely ‘from us to us, and for us,’ which has a focus on the development of culinary businesses and art events. Focusing on those aspects is useful for students’ art dissemination and development and, at the same time serves as an entertainment event to strengthen networking among students, especially the undergraduate students in the Development Economics Study Program.

To the new students, Dr. Dwi emphasizes that at the beginning students must have a goal while continuing their studies in the MM Study Program. “What motivated you to get to MM FEB UNS? You must have a mission and a purpose, this is a better path for your future, to improve your capacity. We really hope that by joining MM FEB UNS, your abilities and competencies can improve significantly, thus creating a unique skill as your personal characteristic, to further enhance your bargaining power,” she explained.
The Study Program decided to deliver material on research and publications on the first day of orientation because this material deals with the biggest challenge for students. When registering for the thesis exam, students are required to have a research publication.

The event presented two speakers, Warsito S.E., M.Si from the West Java DGT Regional Office, and Mukh. Nurkholis, Ak., BKP-C., CA. MNCo Tax Consultant.
Meanwhile, Nurkholis explained that taxation knowledge is not general knowledge, taxation is a practical skill. “Studying tax is the same as accounting, the same as studying silat, the same as learning to dance. Taxation must be practiced repeatedly,” he stressed.

The Plt. (Acting Officer) of Vice Dean of Planning, Business and Information Cooperation, Tastaftiyan Risfandy, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D., also appreciated the 2023 ECOFAIR’s activities.

Certain values and principles in helping, alleviating, and facilitating other people’s affairs needs to be instilled, thus the staff can conduct their job well and contributes positively to FEB in particular and also UNS.
