Prof. Agung Nur Probohudono is Inaugurated as Professor of Management Accounting FEB UNS

Prof. Agung Nur Probohudono, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak., CA., CfrA., was inaugurated as Professor in Management Accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) on Tuesday (23/5/2025) at the Auditorium of G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS and was broadcasted via Universitas Sebelas Maret Official YouTube Channel.

Prof. Agung Nur Probohudono inaugurationProf. Agung Nur Probohudono, the 20th professor in FEB UNS and the 260th in UNS, delivered his inaugural speech entitled Humanitarian-Based Accounting and Business Communication Disclosure Practices.

“This is my expertise journey in the field of management accounting. For me, this feels like the Bimo Suci arc in Javanese shadow puppetry, which signifies the learning process in the search for identity to obtain the truth. The story told that water is a source of life, which philosophically means that we all shall live to benefit others. Therefore, I would like to deliver this speech entitled Humanitarian-Based Accounting and Business Communication Disclosure Practices,” he explained.

Further, he mentioned that according to studies conducted on accounting disclosures, the main objective of the disclosure is related to how a company discloses specific information. This disclosure must be able to satisfy all stakeholders, to make everyone happy, particularly for humanity-based disclosure.

By providing business communication through humanity-based disclosures, a company can satisfy and make all stakeholders happy. This means that a company needs to establish good communication with the environment through various communication channels available within the company. Humanity-based communication such as the Javanese tradition of “among rasa” (maintaining good relationships) can make all parties satisfied.

Companies also need to build mutual learning and experience-sharing with their stakeholders to maintain business sustainability.

The implementation of 8 (eight) Hastha Laku by Solo Bersimfoni can help in managing the company’s stakeholders through the Guyub Rukun, Gotong Royong, Tepa Selira, Ewuh Pekewuh, Pangerten, Grapyak Semanak, Lembah Manah, and Andhap Asor as Javanese local wisdom.

The activity conducted at the Production House of Lilik Coastal Fabric Craftsman was attended by the business owner and a number of employees. This coastal fabric business was only established in 2019 with bulk coastal fabric production as its main operation. The production has been distributed both domestically and internationally.

Coastal Fabric ProductionAs a newly established business, this coastal fabric business has faced problems that require them to seek assistance and mentoring. The problems are, among other, business owners’ lack of entrepreneurial knowledge, leading the business owner only focuses on fulfilling orders. Hence, they are less focused on managing the business as a whole. In addition, some padder machine (a machine for fabric coloring and cleaning) components need to be replaced immediately due to obsolete.

For this reason, the Behavioral Accounting community service team considers the need to enhance craftsmen’s entrepreneurial knowledge. This aims to help the owner to be able to manage and develop his business. The community team delivered entrepreneurial materials and followed by an open discussion with the craftsmen. The material presented is related to financial planning, production planning, and targeted marketing strategies to expand market outreach.

Other than providing training materials, the team also provides equipment assistance in the form of padder machine spare parts, which were handed directly during the community service program. This equipment assistance serves as a solution to the identified problems, uncovered through pre-program implementation interviews.

Lilik Coastal Fabric ProductionThe team has placed a spare parts order on a workshop to produce and assemble a padder engine frame and padder tub. After the new spare parts are finished, the Lilik Coastal Fabric owner and craftsmen, together with the Community Service Team tested the padder machine. This machine operation test is conducted after the new frame and tinting tub are installed.

After successful trials, the padder engine spare parts handover ceremony was conducted. Hopefully, the spare parts can speed up project production. This will allow the business to meet the customers’ demands in greater quantity, quickly, effectively, and efficiently. At the end of the assistance program, the community service team evaluates the level of understanding of the material delivered.

This dissemination and entrepreneurial training provide sufficient theoretical and applied knowledge to the Lilik Coastal Fabric Craftsmen to improve their entrepreneurial skills.

The Lilik Coastal Fabric Craftsmen express their gratitude, since now they have a machine that can accommodate customer orders. Therefore, the production capacity in the next period will be improved.

The Accounting Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, hosted the Road to Accreditation: How to Get Outstanding Grade From LAMEMBA Workshop on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, at UNS Inn, Solo.

On this occasion, the study program invites Yudha Aryo Sudibyo, SE, M.Sc. Ak. Ph.D., CA., from Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED) to share his knowledge in preparing for the LAMEMBA accreditation.

At the beginning of his material, Yudha shared that the material needed for accreditation was already available and only needed suitable formulation to meet the assessor’s requirements and demand. On-site assessment usually takes around two days, which requires the Study Program to prepare various supporting documents.

Further, he clarifies that on the first day of the on-site assessment, several agendas commonly take place, such as the opening ceremony, assessment session with the Head of Study Program Management (UPPS), consisting of the assessed University Rector, Faculty Dean, Head of Study Program, Quality Control and Assurance Team, and Accreditation Task Force team members.

Another assessment on the first day is the Data and Information confirmation session to check for the quantitative data contained in the Study Program Quantitative Data (DKPS) section. This assessment is attended by the Head of the university Quality Assurance team, who will deliver a brief explanation regarding the semester learning plan. The session to assess the internal quality assurance document will be conducted continuously. Meanwhile, other assessment sessions involving external parties can be managed according to the program condition and conducted in the panel room.

On the second day of the site assessment, the assessor will deliver their feedback and conclude the site visit with a closing ceremony.

As for the self-assessment report, the program will need supporting documents, such as the MBKM report; international class management report, which covers language usage, electronic book, and student exchange program; research funding; partnership and collaboration output, such as research, education partnership, and PKM, since they were related with funding and infrastructure; students’ achievement at the international level, including training, championship, and conference; and international collaboration in team teaching, but not limited to general lecture. Meanwhile, the exchange program is not limited to in-person participation.

For the DKPS, the study program needs to prepare employment data including expertise background; Full Time Performance Equivalent (EWMP) calculation that includes home sessions and external teaching sessions (at other study programs aside from the original program); user satisfaction related to quality assurance team, including the questionnaire used, result, and report; and students output including conference, intellectual property rights (IPR), and collaboration with lecturers.

He also stated that to obtain an ‘excellent’ score, a study program needs to get more than 18 points out of the 27 dimensions required by LAMEMBA.

A question and answer session ensues following the material dissemination session. This agenda is expected to be beneficial for the Accounting Study Program and allow the program to be better prepared to face the LAMEMBA accreditation.

Supporting facilities are provided by the faculty, and students can take advantage of these facilities the best they can.

“Our team had faced failures in previous championships, but through those failures, we found the motivation to evaluate our shortcomings and strive better in the next opportunities. While doing our best, it is not enough to only work hard, and we also need to pray. God will bless us according to our effort. God is blessing us not because of our status but because He is the Most Gracious and Merciful.

Prof. Bambang Sutopo and Prof. Soeparmi, Delivered Tribute Speech for Professor Council Retirement

Two of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) professors have entered their retirement. Prof. Dr. Bambang Sutopo, M.Com., Ak., and Prof. Dra. Soeparmi, M.A., Ph.D., delivered their Council of Professor Retirement Tribute Speech on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022.

Prof. Bambang Sutopo handed service baton to Taufiq Arifin, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak

On this occasion, which was hosted in a hybrid manner at the Second UNS Assembly Room Dr. Prakosa Building and also available through Zoom Meeting and UNS Youtube Channel, Prof. Bambang Sutopo delivered his Tribute Speech entitled Accounting Research at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sebelas Maret: Achievements, Challenges, and Opportunities. Meanwhile, Prof. Dra. Soeparmi, M.A., Ph.D., delivered a speech entitled Research-Based Learning at Higher Education Institutions.

After delivering their speech, the two professors handed their baton of service devotion in UNS to younger colleagues. Prof. Bambang Sutopo handed his service baton to Taufiq Arifin, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak., while Prof. Soeparmi handed hers to Mohtar Yunianto, S.Si., M.Si., as the younger colleagues at UNS.

Prof. Soeparmi handed service baton to Mohtar Yunianto, S.Si., M.Si

Prof. Drs. Suranto, M.Sc, Ph.D., as the Head of the UNS Council of Professor, in his remarks, convey his congratulation to Prof. Bambang Sutopo and Prof. Soeparmi as senior professors in UNS after dedicating their excellent service to UNS for years.

“UNS Council of Professor Retirement Tribute Speech is an academic culture developed for UNS academic members, showing that we have a professor who had dedicated their service for 70 years in UNS and that we will organize a special ceremony for their service,” he revealed.

Further, he states that there must be a special term for emeritus professors. Indeed, in one of the UNS regulations, Prof. Suranto specifically requested the Head of the Academic Senate to specify Professor Retirement not to be on the same term as normal retirement.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., delivering Rector’s Remarks

If normal retirement is addressed to all academic support staff and lecturers, Professor retirement must be specifically addressed to the Council of Professors. According to him, this retirement is only addressed to professors entering their 70 years of service, a particular clause that was requested not to get amended.

In this term, all professors entering their retirement are requested to deliver their tribute speech and hand a baton of service to their junior.

Prof. Suranto, Head of UNS Council of Professors Delivering Remarks

“We visited and requested for the professor to deliver their speech, not in a ceremonial style, but a tribute speech to be more flexible. This allows whether they wish to recount their experiences during their service in UNS, and what’s special is the professors will show the way to the juniors, who will continue to expand their study,” he explains.

Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret, in his remark delivered by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., Vice-Rector for Academic and Students Affairs UNS, revealed to all invited guests that retirement is often associated with unproductive or a period to rest to enjoy their retirement age.

However, according to the Rector of UNS, retirement is not the end of all activities and shall not become a terrifying period. If retirement is only interpreted as a time limit to stop any activity and only rest, never retire.

Invited guest of the UNS Council of Professor Retirement Tribute Speech

However, if retiring means stopping working on boring routines and starting working on an exciting assignment that makes you happy, joyful, and feel useful, then by all means, retire as soon as possible. There are many of us, for instance, people out there who started our new careers after entering retirement.

Further, it was said that older adults are not those with sickness or patients who need to reduce their activity and constantly rest. Human minds are similar to a muscle, they need exercises and stimulation to remain active and stay well-maintained.

The Rector of UNS also gives an example of how Prof. Bambang Sutopo and Prof. Soeparmi, even after entering their 70th years of service, can maintain their sharp and clear thought. Both are innovative, always active, independent, productive, and diligently carries out their duty as a lecturer, with various duties involving supervising students, conducting research, and examining students’ thesis for bachelor, postgraduate, doctoral, and professional degree.

Our minds actually work according to certain cycles. We need to admit that our habits for decades will need great effort to establish new comfortable habits after entering retirement.

However, the Rector of UNS believes that Prof. Bambang Sutopo and Prof. Soeparmi will not find significant challenges in adjusting to the new life cycle.

At the end of the remark, the Rector of UNS congratulates Prof. Bambang Sutopo and Prof. Soeparmi for entering retirement. Both professors have shown their dedication, loyalty, and commendable and extraordinary dedication to UNS development. As one of UNS’s commitment and appreciation to Prof. Bambang Sutopo and Prof. Soeparmi’s service and dedication, the Rector of UNS invites both professors to dedicate their knowledge as emeritus professors in FEB and FMIPA UNS.
