The Digital Business Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia, hosted a series of in-bound scholar activities from May 26 to May 30, 2023.
The first activity was a General Lecture on Finance entitled “Capital Structure and Dividend” delivered by Prof. Shafinar Ismail, which was attended by all of the Digital Business Study Program students. This event was conducted at Konimex Hall of Bachtiar Effendy Building FEB UNS. The General Lecture allows participants to gain insight and a lecture experience with lecturers from Malaysia.
The following agenda was conducted on May 27, 2023. This General Lecture entitled “Recent Issues in Empirical Finance Research” was delivered by Prof. Shafinar Ismail in room 4302 Bachtiar Effendy Building FEB UNS.
The event was attended by the Master of Management Study Program students at FEB UNS. On this occasion, Prof. Shafinar Ismail from Universiti Teknologi MARA reviewed the student’s proposal and discussed a topic in the proposal seminar. After that, the participants will get input on their research proposal that will be submitted. Hence they can carry on with the research smoothly in the future.
On May 29, 2023, Prof. Shafinar Ismail presented her recent article entitled “The Intention of Small and medium enterprises’ Owners to Participate in Waqf: a Case of Malaysia and Indonesia,” at the UNS Fintech Center. This presentation was followed by a discussion with FEB UNS lecturers on future research collaboration plans.
Plt. (Acting Officer) for the Head of the Digital Business Study Program FEB, Putra Pamungkas, M. Rech., Ph.D., revealed that the purpose of this activity is to improve UNS’s international reputation and to establish better global competitiveness. In addition, it will also improve UNS internationalization programs quality and increase UNS’ global academic reputation, as well as strengthen collaboration and MoU implementation with Universiti Teknologi MARA. “Overall, the inbound scholars from Universiti Teknologi MARA can improve UNS learning and research quality extensively along with the QS 100 university Top Scholar by subject,” he said.
He added that this activity will continue with other collaboration activities in the future and joint research collaboration between FEB UNS and Universiti Teknologi MARA. Following the efforts made within the implementation plan, the current Universiti Teknologi MARA Inbound Scholar provides new insights and further develops UNS exposure. This exposure will include guest lecture activities and discussions on collaborative projects such as webinars, seminars, research, and other activities in the future.
Master of Economics and Development Studies (MESP), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta in collaboration with Universitas Palangka Raya (UPR), Center for Science and Technology Development and Innovation for Peat Land (PPIIG), and Master of Accounting Program FEB UPR held an Economic Seminar entitled “Circular Economics in Sustainable Development Goals and Implications on Palm Oil.”
The hybrid seminar was conducted on Wednesday, May 30, 2023, from 08.30 to 11.00 WIB, at the Universitas Palangka Raya PPIIG Building Auditorium, 6th Floor. The event was opened with a welcome greeting from the Director of PPIIG UPR, Ir. Hendrik Segah, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., IPU., as well as remarks from the Plt. (Acting Officer) for the Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FEB UNS, Dr. Dwi Prasetyani, SE., M.Si. Leading the event was Dr. Fitria Husnatarina, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., as the moderator.
“FMEI is divided into 3 forums, Chairman’s Forum, Strategic Review, and External Forum. The Chairman’s Forum discussed FMEI activities’ strategic design for a year, the Strategic Review discussed a recent study that will be used as a recommendation point, while the External Forum discussed branding and expansion,” he said.
The Neuroscience perspective in Economics become a slick topic raised by the Development Economics Study Program (DESP), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in the 7th National Discussion Forum (Diskusi Nasional 7), Tuesday, 20 May 2023 at the Soehardi Building, FEB UNS.
Dr. Ryu Hasan explains that from a neuroscience perspective, economic decisions are responsible for making people more efficient and effective at acquiring calories to reduce entropy.
The international webinar was organized by the Green Economy and Sustainable Development Research Group, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). Three guest speakers were invited, namely Dwi Marhen Yono, S.STP, M.Si., (Director of Tourism Marketing Kemenparekraf RI), Associate Prof. Dr. Norlida Hanim Mohd Salleh (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia), and Dr. Nurul Istiqomah, S.E., M.Si (DESP FEB Universitas Sebelas Maret).
The lecturer of the DESP FEB UNS then explained that although the Indonesian tourism index improved, the attention toward sustainable tourism has not improved. “To reduce the negative impact of the tourism sector, including natural damage, we know of the carrying capacity concept. As mentioned by the previous speaker, the concept refers to a specific calculation to limit the number of visitors. Therefore, minimizing the negative effects. This concept is applied, for example, in the Raja Ampat tourism area, which is indeed designed in such a way, to limit the number of visitors and to reduce environmental damage,” she said.
In his short speech, Dr. Catur expresses his gratitude to the participants who have been attending the ISSIE agenda and AIBI annual congress. He also expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in the elected officials for the period 2023-2027. “Thank you for the trust shown in us as the managing committee of AIBI, an organization that has been established since 1995. Regarding the important role of startup business, this international seminar is also expected to be a medium to build networks between startups, by fostering opportunities for new challenges, media exchange of ideas, and exchange of experiences. Similar notions were expressed by Prof. Venty Suryanti, S.Si., M.Phil., Ph.D., Director of the UNS Directorate for Innovation and Downstreaming, through her opening remark.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the UNS G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium and was broadcasted through the Universitas Sebelas Maret YouTube Channel on Tuesday (23/5/2025). After the inauguration ceremony, a celebration was held in the Lobby of the Soeharno TS Building.

(acting officer) for the Head of the BI Statistics Department, in a Public Lecture entitled The Role of Surveys in Policy Formulation at Bank Indonesia. The Public Lecture was hosted by the Development Economy Study Program (DESP), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Friday, 26/5/2023 at the Suhardi Building Hall FEB UNS.
As an illustration, BI conducts several surveys related to the real sector to obtain relevant early information as input to the formulation of monetary policy. The survey includes Consumer Survey, Retail Sales Survey, and Business Sector Activity Survey, which monitors the latest domestic economic developments, and then serves as the input for pre-emptive and forward-looking monetary policy formulation.
Prof. Agung Nur Probohudono, the 20th professor in FEB UNS and the 260th in UNS, delivered his inaugural speech entitled Humanitarian-Based Accounting and Business Communication Disclosure Practices.
