The Financial Accounting Research Group (RG), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, led by Prof. Dr. Rahmawati, won first place in Community Partner Development Championship in the UNS 46th Anniversary Celebration.

“The Financial Accounting Research Group generally targeted and established a partnership with local community members, especially in community economic development and income growth. The aspects covered in development partnership are income growth, socio-cultural improvement, community health improvement, environmental condition enhancement, gender equality development, and independent sustainability,” explains Prof. Rahma.

Prof. Rahma also reveals the track record of the Financial Accounting Research Group partnership from 2018 to 2021 in detail. In 2018, the Research Group organized a household waste management based on green-preneurship at Joyosuran Surakarta; in 2019, the Research Group constructed Islamic trade value in Kudus and hosted an accounting training and natural-dye batik in Bantul DIY; in 2020, the Group hosted several events including assistance for shadow puppets creative performance, natural dye development at Bantul DIY, and embroidery batik training in Paderenan Kudus; lastly, in 2021, the team hosted print batik mentoring in Solo Jawa Tengah, tourism trash waste management in Berjo Village Karanganyar, and digital marketing product design assistance in MJoint Yogya.

Numerous accomplishments made by the Research Group have supported the fulfillment of several Key Performance Indicators, namely the KPI assessment point no. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7.

Prof. Rahma added that the role of the Research Group in community partnership is to provide solutions for the problems encountered by the partners in line with the Research Group’s field of expertise. Indeed, this condition shall not rule out the possibility of collaboration with other qualified parties under circumstances that require such collaboration to solve the problem that arises.

A future community partners’ development plan is established according to the effectiveness and efficiency analysis of the previous program. Therefore, the future program is expected to be more efficient and enhanced.

The Financial Accounting Research Group wishes for support from all parties for their future programs and agenda, hoping for a better and more beneficial cause.

The Islamic Economics and Finance Research Group, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), conducted a Community Service (PKM) activity at KB/RA al-Islam, Jamsaren, Surakarta, on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

The PKM team from FEB UNS led by Dr. Falikhatun, M.Si., Ak, CA, SAS., as the Head of Community Service Program, along with Prof. Dr. Salamah Wahyuni, SU., Dr. Muthmainah, M.Si., Ak., and Dr. Susanto Tirtoprojo, MM., provided a Workshop and Training on Writing Islamic Children’s Stories for teachers of the Kindergarten (KB/RA) al-Islam in Jamsaren, Surakarta.

The activity held in the KB/RA al-Islam classroom aimed to assist teachers in enhancing their teaching capabilities, including preparing teaching materials through writing Islamic children’s stories.

In her presentation, Falikhatun expressed that the idea for this PKM was motivated by the lack of Islamic children’s storybooks written by teachers at KB/RA al-Islam Jamsaren, despite the kindergarten’s long establishment. So far, the storybooks used in the teaching process were purchased from various publishers and written by other authors.

“Storybooks are one of the learning resources for children that can be used to enhance their knowledge and instill moral values. Storytelling is expected to cultivate children’s curiosity towards new knowledge and enable them to respond to moral messages,” Falikhatun explained.

The event featured a highly competent guest speaker, Nur Laili Munazalah, S.Sos, a writer of Islamic Children’s Storybooks who has published dozens of books and won various National Competitions for Writing Children’s Stories.

Laili explains that writing children’s books presents its own challenges. This process requires adults to genuinely immerse themselves in children’s world both in language and behavior. She also shared some tips for writing children’s books, such as using short sentences, easily understandable diction, and incorporating moral messages and educative teachings in simple language.

The activity aims to motivate teachers to create their own works to improve their entrepreneurial competence, enabling them to produce quality and marketable books that can ultimately increase their revenue. (Tetri)

Through the Cow Complete Program, the Behavioral Accounting Research Group, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) conducted a community service program at Subur Lestari cattle breeders in Pandeyan Village, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Friday, April 15, 2022.

The Community Service Team, led by Taufiq Arifin, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak., with its Cow Complete Feed Program, provided assistance to cattle breeders through the dissemination of a thorough and nutritionally beneficial animal feed production, including a machinery grant in the form of feed mixer machines.

The activity, which took place at the Multipurpose Building of the Communal Cowshed in Pandeyan Village, was attended by representatives of the Communal Cowshed members due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. These representatives will further share the material with other breeders on the use of the mixer machines and feed production.

Prior to the community training, the team conducted interviews and discussions with the cattle farmer association. The team observed the lack of knowledge among the members regarding the nutritional needs through proper feed, particularly the Subur Lestari cattle farmer in Pandeyan Village.

Based on the discussion result, the most crucial issue to address initially was the equipment procurement and knowledge extension for complete nutrition cattle feed production. This was related to concerns raised by the members of the cattle farmer group regarding feed supplies during periods of scarcity or non-harvest seasons. The discussions also revealed a strong desire for improving the nutrition of their cattle to nurture healthier and economically valuable cattle.

The service team further discussed the most feasible solutions for the emerging problems faced by the farmers. Their first step was to place an order for the feed mixer machine, based on the suggestion of most members who believed that the machine would aid in feed production. Subsequently, the team provided counseling on the production of nutritionally beneficial animal feed.

The team hopes that providing the machine and conducting effective counseling will result in increased knowledge among the livestock group members about producing quality feed that benefits their cattle’s health and adds economic value to their cattle.

Evaluation results showed that the majority of breeders were satisfied and gained valuable experience in managing cattle feed. They also expressed their gratitude for receiving a machine that aids in producing cattle feed.

The next recommended step for the following community service program is providing counseling on marketing cattle feed that can be sold to external parties. This, of course, requires additional capital as some feed ingredients must be purchased, while the rest may come from leftover harvest waste, which is not always available throughout the season.

The Awarding and Closing Ceremony for the Art and Sport Appreciation by Economic and Business Faculty (ARTEFAC) 2022, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, was conducted in a hybrid manner Saturday (26/3/2022). The event that invited national judges and was held joyously at the FEB UNS Suhardi Hall, was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FEB UNS, Prof. Dr. Izza Mafruhah, SE., M.Si. Following in suit, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), as the chairman of the 46th UNS Anniversary, thanked the juries for allocating their schedule to attend the ceremony at UNS and appreciating the effort taken in hosting the 2022 ARTEFAC.

The competitions held by ARTEFAC UNS consist of three competitions, including a contemporary dance competition, a modern dance competition, and a monologue competition. Mohammad Da’i as the Chairman of ARTEFAC UNS 2022 expressed his gratitude to all participants who had participated in the ARTEFAC UNS 2022 championship. Even though it was held in the middle of a pandemic condition, participants’ enthusiasm was overwhelming. This is evident with a total of 101 participants competing in all competitions, with 50 participants in Monolog Competition, 25 contestants in Modern Dance Competition, and 26 contenders in Contemporary Dance Competition. Mohammad Da’i also said that the competition held by ARTEFAC UNS 2022 has been a regular schedule in the FEB UNS and is always awaited by art and sports enthusiast on a national scale. Participants came from all over Indonesia, starting from Surakarta, Bali, Jakarta, Blora, Semarang, and others.

This event was enlivened with a talkshow from competition monologue judges, Hanindawan and Nano Riantiarno, who provided insights into the Monologue. They say that the Monologue is a space used to showcase players’ creativity in crafting a work of art. The competition monologue consists of two categories, namely the high school and university categories. After passing through the jury assessment process, the Monologue Competition for the high school category was won by Gentamalini Theatre as the Best Music Organizer; Tsuntsinelas Theatre as the Best Artistic; Timboel Theatre in 3rd Place; Bala Theatre in 2nd Place, and Gentamalini Theatre in 1st Place. Meanwhile, in the University category, the Monologue Competition was won by Sendratasik Theatre as the Best Music Organizer; Geniwara Theatre as the Best Artistic; Soekamto Theatre in 3rd Place; Sendratasik Theatre in 2nd Place, and Trompah Theatre in 1st Place.

Additionally, the talk show was also attended by a contemporary dance competition jury, such as Didik Nini Thowok and Otniel Tasman, who explained a little about contemporary art as something that is expressed in us spontaneously, which is synonymous with freedom and can follow the flow of times. Every period of contemporary dance art will change or can keep up with the times and new media. The winner of the contemporary dance competition was Sawung Dance Studio as the Best Choreo; Janata Team in the 3rd Place; Taksu Krisna in the 2nd Place; and Kuda Dance Community in the 1st Place.

The next talk show presented the juries for the modern dance competition, such as Timboel Hiphop and Acia Pink Panda, who explained a little about modern dance where the participants can get more creative in choreography. The jury members provide insights into the online dance competition, stating that aside from the dance movement, participants need to pay attention to supporting aspects such as costumes, lighting, videography, and editing. The winner of the modern dance competition 1st Place was won by Centermix Crew from Blora, 2nd Place was Three Six One, and the Recycle Crew won 3rd Place and Best Choreo Excellent Dance.

There are live performances of traditional dance and modern dance from the spectacular Guest Star in-between the session. Thus the event went on lively and smoothly. This Awarding Session will be the closing event of ARTEFAC UNS 2022.

Therefore, UNS as a university that is part of the global community is expected to play an active role in realizing national education plans and ideals.

The Faculty of Economics and Business as part of Universitas Sebelas Maret participated in this achievement effort by holding various international cooperation activities and programs. One of the programs that was successfully initiated was the internationalization of inbound and outbound professors. This program is designed to present guest lecturers from universities abroad proposed by the Study Program and faculty to teach a course (study topic) and conduct various academic activities with students and lecturers.
FEB UNS Accounting S1 Study Program has organized the first visiting lecturer by inviting speakers Dr. Yuni Yuningsing CPA, Ph.D., M.Com., B.Ec. From Curtin University Faculty of Business and Law with the theme Looking at Management Accountant Profession, Business Culture & Ethical Leadership Through an International Class on December 7-10, 2021 via zoom meeting. The second visiting lecturer was also held on December 14-17, 2021 via zoom meeting, by inviting speakers of Curtin University’s Director of Graduate Researchers, namely Professor Ruhul Salim, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. with the theme Research Methodology in Accounting, Business, Finance, and Economic Natural Experiment and Panel Data.

The internationalization process needs support from all components of the academic community, especially lecturers as a key component of teaching. The role, duties, and responsibilities of lecturers are very important in realizing the goals of national education, namely educating the life of the nation, improving the quality of Indonesian people, which includes the quality of faith / piety, noble morals, and mastery of science, technology, and art, and realizing an advanced, fair, prosperous, and civilized Indonesian society. Lecturers are always required to be professional, productive and indicative, because according to article 49 paragraph 2 of Indonesian Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers, in addition to carrying out Tri Dharma of higher education, professors also have special obligations in the form of; (1) write a book; (2) produce scientific work; and (3) spread ideas. In line with this, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNS considers the need for internationalization cooperation in the field of lecturer exchange with partner universities. This program is designed to present guest lecturers from universities abroad proposed by the Study Program and faculty to teach a course (study topic) and conduct various academic activities with students and lecturers.

FEB UNS Accounting S1 Study Program has organized an online master class program on November 16, 2021. This activity was attended by 20 lecturers of Accounting S1 Study Program. This master class with the theme “From Memorization to Imagination” is designed for academics who are interested in developing skills in the teaching process that suit the needs of today’s students. Lecturers can learn various ways to integrate innovation and creativity in curriculum development so that it is easier to understand and be accepted by students. Training is emphasized on shifting the paradigm of teaching and learning activities from “memorization” to “imagination” In this activity is divided into 5 modules.
